So, it looks like we are getting a double serving of Daredevil greatness (hopefully!) coming our way in March of next year!
As if the second season of Daredevil: Born Again hitting our screens on March 4 wasn't enough, we are also getting a brand new volume of the Daredevil comic by writer Stephanie Phillips and artist Lee Garbett.
As regular visitors have probably noticed, I haven't reviewed an issue of the comic in close to a decade. In fact, I haven't even read an issue in years. I do have some sense of what's been going on, but from a pure thematic standpoint, I just haven't been that interested, preferring instead to direct my energy into the show, and my 2022 book.
However, I've been meaning to catch up with the comics recently – and document it! – so I'm happy for the extra motivation to do so.
So, what makes this run different? Well, I obviously have no idea how I'll like it when it comes out, but the mere fact that it's being advertised as fresh start, with noir sensibilities no less, has me interested. And casting Matt in the role of a law professor? That has me downright intrigued!
Anyone out there looking forward to getting back into the comics with the new run? Or are you just happy for a change of pace? Or have you been loving the recent runs and want to see me give them a proper chance? Let me know in the comments!
I’ve been reading comics most of my life, but I’ve never actually picked up an ongoing every month as it comes out. With this, I’ll be excited to change that! I’ve found something new to appreciate about Daredevil with each new creative team!
I recently saw the name of this webpage in DD v4 #1.50 and have really enjoyed digging through all the articles! Hornhead’s got such a varied history, and I appreciate reading how you’ve “cross-examined” different parts of the character.

Hi Christine, have you read the new run? If so, do you like it? I stopped reading the comics years ago, too, because I got annoyed by how the character’s senses kept getting dialed up or down to fit the story, instead of the story adapting to a basic internal consistency. But I suppose that’s inevitable when so many different writers handle the same character. Still, I’d definitely take your recommendation on what’s fun to read.
So far, I’m really enjoying the new run! It’s not necessarily perfect, it’s just a very welcome return to some kind of normal.
