The full script from the trailer

Frank: One batch. Two batch. Penny and dime.

NETFLIX. MARVEL.

Matt: Father, why do I still feel guilty?
Father Lantom: The guilt means your work is not yet finished.
Brett: Downtown office thinks we’ve got a new player in Hell’s Kitchen.
Matt: What do they want?
Blake Tower?: The D.A. says the shooter is an independent. He’s tracking gangs to their home turf, and taking them out with military precision.
Brett : …with the knowledge and hardware to take out half the city, Hell’s Kitchen is about to explode.

A NETFLIX ORIGINAL SERIES

Frank: Bang.

Karen: Maybe we created him. All of us.
Matt: There is no connection.
Karen: You never stopped to think that Daredevil’s actions could open the door for men like this?

Matt: How much longer before innocent people start getting caught in his crossfire? Blood is being shed!
Foggy: And you donated more than your fair share!

NO GOOD DEED

Claire: This city needs him.

GOES UNPUNISHED

Frank: I need to take care of the scum that killed my family.
Daredevil: People don’t have to die!
Frank: You hit them and they get back up, I hit them and they stay down!
Daredevil: Why are you doing this?
Frank: ‘Cause I think you’re a half-measure. I think you’re a man who can’t finish the job. I think that you’re a coward.

Frank: You know you’re one bad day away from being me.

DAREDEVIL SEASON 2

  1. Loved this podcast! So much to look forward to in season 2. The scene where Daredevil has a chain and a hand wrapped in duct tape probably follows on from the rooftop scene where the Punisher has him tied up. In the comic, Castle tapes a gun to DD’s hand and offers him an impossible moral choice : shoot him and end the killing or don’t shoot and let the bloodshed continue. I’m guessing DD breaks free eventually, chain dangling, and goes in pursuit of Castle in order to stop him. He hasn’t got time to waste sawing off the chain so he uses it as a weapon instead.

  2. Thanks for the screenshots. I was wondering who Claire was talking to. Now I know it was Foggy.

I enjoyed the podcast. You guys caught a lot that I’d missed on my multiple (a mere 3) watchings. I didn’t realize that Matt caught a sai at the end. I thought he realized someone was there and pulled out a kitchen knife (like in Claire’s apartment in season 1). The sai makes more sense, although I didn’t get a clear look at it.

It was fun hearing you discuss the minutiae about the characters. That’s the kind of conversations I enjoy. My fellow commuters must think I’m nuts laughing while driving down the highway.

  3. Great podcast. Took me a while to get through the whole thing because of time constraints.

I think the main reason they’ve kept Matt with the unshaved 5 o’clock shadow (other than looking cool) is its an easy way to make him look much younger in flashbacks in which he is clean shaven.

  4. Your mentioning of the IMDB credits is silly. Main characters get billed for every episode. You shouldn’t go by the actor credits. Instead, you should instead go by the IMDB Stunt section. For example: Elektra’s stunt double is in 9 episodes. No one is going to go on IMDB and edit the stunt section, they usually only edit the actor section. Michelle Hurd has a stunt double in an episode too. She was in the final episode of Jessica Jones.

As for the final scene in the trailer, Elektra is one of the few people who can fool Matt’s senses. Matt is coming in from being out with Karen all night and his head is in the wrong space compared to his usual way of always looking out for something. As for the “sai” you mention… It actually looks like Matt is grabbing a knife from the counter behind him.

  5. @Friendly Neighbourhood Daredevil Fan: Welcome to the blog and thank you for providing genuinely useful information on a topic that I (obviously) know little about. I wish you would have done it without calling me silly though.

And yes, I’m aware that Elektra is known for being able to fool Matt’s senses, though I’ve never read it to mean that he can’t detect her at all, more to mean that she is difficult for him to read. As for the knife/sai, I hope you’re right since that makes much more sense, especially since she’s just sitting there.

  6. Sorry about that. I didn’t mean to call you silly, I meant to say IMDB credits are silly before a release. There are too many trolls adding names that don’t show up in the actor credit section. If you stick to the stunt credits, it’s a little more safe to go by and lists a few actors who haven’t been mentioned yet, like Michelle Hurd.

Looking forward to the podcast next week!

  7. @Friendly Neighbourhood Daredevil Fan: No problem, and thanks for clearing that up. And maybe I will look into those stunt credits for the second half of the trailer next week. 🙂

  8. It is noteworthy that Wolverine is seen as using his sense of smell far more than Daredevil. Definitely reenforces that idea that smell is beastly and primitive.

I personally like the idea of Matt’s smell working like a dog’s (where he’s capable of differentiating scents rather than smelling them more strongly). Unfortunately, I don’t think the comics portray it this way (since strong smells seem to overwhelm him). For example, the reason dogs are used to detect drugs is you can’t hide the drugs in something with a stronger smell to mask them, they’ll just smell each individually.
