Hello all! As many of you probably noticed already, some scenes from the second season of Marvel’s Daredevil on Netflix were released to a wider audience last week, after being shown to the people at the NYCC Daredevil panel. The teaser was originally released at the end of promotional footage from season one, but if you want to see only the new scenes, have a look below!

For some pretty good screen caps from the trailer, I suggest you check out this short piece from io9. I must admit that when I first saw the footage of Elektra, my brain immediately screamed Claire instead. I have no idea why since I was obviously well aware that Elektra appears in season two, in the shape of the ninjaesque (she can fight!) Elodie Yung, and she really doesn’t even look that much like Rosario Dawson. In my defense, her face is mostly covered. That, or I’m basically an idiot. 😉

I also suggest you check out another couple of videos out of NYCC. First, it’s the Daredevil panel from the convention itself. Second, we have a cast interview from Entertainment Weekly. During the eons that have passed since my last post, I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that most of you have seen these already. If not, they’re worth a look.

Any thoughts and speculations on season 2? Let the rest of us know in the comment section! I’m actually pretty excited about this, even though I feel some ambivalence about Scott Glenn coming back for three episodes next season. I have nothing against Scott Glenn – on the contrary, I thought he was a perfect casting choice – I just prefer that this show stay as clear as possible of the more mystical realms of the Marvel U. On the other hand, we have Frank Castle to anchor us firmly to the semi-realistic, street-level side of things.

  1. Hello,
Did you see this interview with Cox? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t50v70MHLVM

Very happy to see Father Lantom will continue to play a role in season 2. I know we probably disagree on Stick as I welcome as much mystical ninja shenanigans into the show as possible, though we don’t know how much that aspect will or won’t be played up. Just because Glenn is appearing in 3 episodes doesn’t mean he will be the focus or a major player in all 3. He could show up as the zinger/cliffhanger of an episode and that be counted as one of the 3 and only really “appear” in 2.

I hope Elektra wears something similar in style to Nobu, including a mask when she’s “on the clock”. It wouldn’t be a deal breaker by any means if they try to replicate her “iconic” outfit, but I hope the show runners are smart enough to adapt the iconic visual elements in a more realistic outfit like they did Matt’s. I think about Psylocke in the upcoming X-Men movie. Yeah its cool seeing that outfit realized and Olivia Munn is gorgeous in it, but then I realize its not 1992 and I’m not 14 anymore and it just looks ridiculous.

    1. Aw, that’s a neat interview. I hadn’t seen that. (Though I did see something else she posted a couple of years ago.)

  2. Very little in the way of new material for previewing season two, but it is early yet. Overall it looks like the show is going to have the same kind of feel and tone to it, which I am happy for. I am also happy to see that Father Lantom is coming back. He was one of the very pleasant surprises from season one. I thought I would hate his character and the possible over religious themes, but they struck a good balance and I highly enjoyed his scenes with Matt. He gave the show a little extra weight and style. Im also very excited to hear that Scott Glenn is coming back. I loved him as Stick! I think it is inevitable that there will be more mystic ninja stuff in this season, especially as we grow closer to the Iron Fist series. I just hope that they can strike as good a balance with the mystic stuff as they did with the religious themes. Just please no Shadowland! Although I think Arrow did a pretty good job of incorporating the mystic aspects of Ra’s and the Lazarus pit while still keeping a street level show. So it can be done. Not much to report on the Elektra and Punisher end of things. You get to see a quick glimpse of them but that’s about it. They look the parts. I guess we will see how it goes from there. I am really excited about this season. I don’t see how you couldn’t be after that unbelievably good first season. And it looks like they are not forgetting about Karan and Foggy which is nice. Just hope they can balance all the pieces.

  3. The Punisher! Totally stoked for this.

  4. I screamed seeing this. I was more excited about seeing Claire than Elektra to be honest. Funny thing about an interview Charlie did was that he said he loved the relationship between Claire and Matt so much that he felt really conflicted about all the possible relationships in season 2. They definitely will go down the whole Matt and Karen route for season 2 but I’m with Charlie on this that one because one of the best parts of season 1 was him with Claire.
