Daredevil #1 preview – colored and lettered!

This was just what I meant when I said I’d be willing to take a break from my ongoing hiatus in case anything major happened. A full-color and lettered preview of Daredevil #1 is just that kind of major news that cannot go uncommented. Ordinarily, a preview isn’t that big of a deal, but this is really our first taste of not only what a Waid/Rivera/Martín Daredevil comic looks like in full color – courtesy of Javier Rodríguez – but what it sounds like. With the generous use of caption boxes to narrate Matt’s inner thoughts, we get a feel for Waid’s Daredevil voice. So far, I like it.

The preview in question has been plastered all over the Internet, so check it out at Marvel.com, CBR, IGN, Newsarama or MTV Geek.

Meanwhile, I’m happy to report that my hiatus has been wonderful so far and that I’m brimming with ideas for what to cover in June when I return to regular posting. As far as this preview goes, have your say in the comment section!

NOTE: The date of publication for the first issue is still July 20, and not July 7 as is indicated by the preview information. ManWithoutFear.com’s Kuljit Mithra had this verified as soon as the new date started circulating. Sadly, the earlier date is an error.

  1. Well, it’s all rather pretty.

The pages are beautiful, clean and bright.

Matt’s senses are well defined in the art and writing, and he’s definitely got a more upbeat perspective, stopping to smell the perfume at a mob wedding. No pain, no grime.

Early days, but what’s not to like?

  2. Wow, this looks so good. I might have to break down and get the monthly issues of this and possibly Rucka’s Punisher. Probably will since DC just saved me a ton of money every month with their current pathetic and ill advised stunt.
