This is it. This is the classic goof of Daredevil seeing a portrait of Deathstalker’s mother. As much as I like the fun of this issue, one has to wonder why no one(!) noticed this mistake. And this was an issue (#208) with two writers in Harlan Ellison and Arthur Byron Cover. Fun, exciting, but man that’s a big goof…

  1. Option 1: it’s a goof as big as a country house!

Option 2: maybe Matt is “seeing” as an after effect of some drugs he’s been dosed up in previous pannels… I have the theory that in issue 100 he was actually seeing it all, in his mind, under the effect of Cranston’s drugs.

    Option 3: it’s STILL a goof ;p

  2. Hey! How come Matt can detect a bidimensional image such as what’s depicted in a painting…

…while completely ignoring the man hanging in the middle of the room (visible in the first panel)?

  3. Because those are his own feet (overlapping from the panel above it)… 😛

But it doesn’t make much sense, does it? This goof actually makes me wonder if the editors even read the comics before they are printed?

Strangely enough, they (or the artist at least) seem to remember that he’s blind in subsequent panels when he’s listening to the video-taped message the old woman left behind, where he’s shown clearly not looking at the screen…

Oh well, consistency… Who needs it?

  4. Hahaha! This issue was the one that really made want to read more of DD, the issue that got me hooked way back when, and I’ve never noticed that goof until now! Never! Don’t I feel like an idiot!

    Great catch Christine! 😀

    (Still a great issue though)
