Shadowland

Or, more to the point, we get out first look at the building itself in the recently revealed preview of Shadowland #1. I must say, it really was impressive that they were able to get that thing built in three months. And while it looks like Little Tokyo (not the modern version) moved into Hell’s Kitchen, it sure is a majestic building.
The preview looks pretty interesting as a whole and I’m just so happy that we’ll be getting Daredevil twice a month for the rest of the year. Sadly, I will be away on business all of next week and won’t get the chance to read the issue until Saturday, though I’ll try to be prompt in posting my review.

For anyone who’s beginning to see a pattern, you’re not imagining things. We’ll be looking at lots of different things related to Shadowland in the weeks ahead because there are many angles to explore. Last week, the solicits for September were released, revealing quite a few things about who we might find on Matt’s side.
In the next few days, I’ll try to cover the more speculative aspects of what we might see happen down the line. For now, let’s take a brief look at one of the more noticeable changes we’ll be seeing in next month’s Daredevil: The new costume!”

The life of a superhero
First of all, I decided to redecorate around here, as you can see. I’ll be adding back most of the former sidebar features that were taken out so don’t worry if you can’t find something. I’m striving to make the site as a whole easier to browse rather than more difficult, so give me about a week to polish off the rough edges.
More exciting, of course, is the fact that we’ll be seeing a new issue of Daredevil this coming week. While Daredevil: Cage Match filled the gap nicely last month, I can’t wait to see how this story arc will end and how Matt will be catapulted into the events of Shadowland in July. As you may already know, there are previews out of Daredevil #507 – see, for example, CBR: Daredevil #507 preview – and it looks great!
Lastly, I picked up three copies of the Ultimate Elektra: Devil’s Due TPB at a really good price last week, so I thought we’d have a little contest. I’ll give away two of them right here, and save one for The Other Murdock Paper’s Facebook page. So, if you’re on Facebook and not a fan already, you may want to become one to improve your chances of winning.

Okay, the madness part is more due to my exhilaration at the prospect of seeing a new issue of Daredevil come my way next week, even though there’s plenty of madness going on in the pages of the issue itself.
Marco Checchetto pushes to new heights with his work here and begs the question of how artists working on Daredevil manage to be so darn good all the time. Holy smokes! For a small sample of what I’m talking about, see the panel below or check out the full preview at IGN. Oh, and are those radar rings? Why, yes they are. We haven’t seen those in a while.
Daredevil #506 preview
For those of you who enjoyed my review of Daredevil Redemption, or more specifically the artwork featured in that review, I will have a review up later this week of another Daredevil-related title that might be of interest.
