Wow, there’s just a steady stream of Daredevil-related news these days, isn’t there? Today, Marvel announced their August solicitations (see, for instance, CBR) which includes Daredevil #2 whom we’ll see go up against Captain America – though most likely not in a manner that’s as physical as the cover would suggest. Artwise, Paolo Rivera is flying solo on this one, doing both the cover and interiors (as you’ll recall, the artists will be working on alternating arcs though Marcos Martín will also contribute to the oversized Daredevil #1).
I think it will also come as a very positive surprise for many readers that Daredevil is looking to stay at the old $2.99 price mark (again, not counting the oversized first issue). With how excited everyone seems to be about the whole creative team, a relatively low price for this title should be able to generate some good numbers. After that, it’s up to Waid, Rivera and Martín to keep our attention.
“Given his recent past, Matt Murdock has a lot to answer for and Captain America is doing the cross-examining. Daredevil’s quickly learning that burned bridges with his friends and former allies aren’t easy to repair particularly when Klaw, the Master of Sound, is on his tail!”
Also due out in stores in August is a Big Shots Spotlight issue which will feature behind the scenes looks at the three titles that are part of Marvel’s Big Shots initiative, i.e. Daredevil, Moon Knight and the Punisher. With 48 pages for the whole thing, I’m expecting a lot of Daredevil-related material here. It should be a fun late summer ride!
