However, sometimes when writers try to insert some drama of this nature into the story it feels a little forced. In the panel on the left, we have Heather Glenn marvel at the fact that Matt is able to hail a cab. Yeah, that’s pretty much it. As if we are to believe that the average blind New Yorker couldn’t accomplish this feat, especially given that every third car on the streets of Manhattan is a cab. Okay, so I don’t know the actual number, but I’ve been to New York a few times and there are cabs everywhere (except when you need them, of course). While Heather was undoubtedly a little flaky, you’d think that she might have been able to come up with a plausibe explanation for Matt’s display of uncanny hyperawareness. We never find out what Matt’s response was, but I think “Lucky guess?” would have easily covered his ass this time.
Here’s just a brief post about a panel that I thought was kind of funny (from issue #128, by Marv Wolfman and Bob Brown). You know how there always has to be that element of “will he blow his oh so secret cover?!” in superhero comics? The hero has to balance his two lives and keep his powers hidden so no one will discover his true identity.
